When can future drivers learn to drive with their family members?

Those who are seeking to obtain a driving license entitling the holder to drive category B vehicles are advised to further develop their driving skills with their family members. This will help them feel more confident in themselves on the day of taking the test and achieve the desired results.

  • When can future drivers learn to drive with their family members?
    • If you have already passed the theory test at the "Regitra".
    • If you are at least 17 years old.
  • Who can train?
    • Only family members (parents, spouses, children and adopted children, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren).
    • The family member must have at least 5 years of experience in driving category B vehicles.
    • The family member, who has been deprived of the right to drive vehicles for the violations of the Road traffic rules cannot train to drive.
  • Which car can be used for training to drive?
    • A car of category B, which must be registered, the period of validity of roadworthiness test for the vehicle must not be expired, and a valid compulsory insurance policy must be issued for the car (when training the family member, it is recommended to find out more about the insurance terms).
    • The front and rear of the vehicle must be marked with clearly visible distinguishing signs ‘T’, as required by the Road traffic rules.
    • It is not possible to use cars with the parking brake control lever installed in the place other than between the driver's and passenger's seats.
  • Which documents the trainee must have?
    • Personal identity document.
    • Certificate from "Regitra" attesting to the fact that the theory test has been passed.
    • Valid driver‘s medical certificate (electronic certificate is available from printing out HERE).
  • Which documents the family member must have?
    • Personal identity document.
    • Documents indicating that the family driving instructor and the trainee are family members (for example, marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.).
  • Other important information
    • Persons who have been deprived of the right to drive vehicles for the violations of the Road traffic rules cannot train additionally with their family member.
    • The trainee is allowed to be trained to drive no more than 3 hours a day.
    • The family driving instructor is responsible for compliance, during the training, with the Road traffic rules and with the requirements for training family members.
